We are looking for a qualified Naval Architect for our St. John’s office:
Reporting to the Engineering Manager, the Naval Architect is a crucial member of the Fleetway Engineering team who prepares comprehensive engineering change proposals and technical investigations, as well as designs and specifies integration requirements for modifications to ship systems and structures.
Responsibilities:
- Manage allocated tasks / projects including cost and schedule
- Equipment selection, specification, and report writing
- Survey shipboard equipment
- Conduct structural design and analysis using Classification rules, 1st principles and FEA
- Develop specifications for the installation of equipment on ships
- Conduct weights and stability analysis
- Participate in field studies and execute lift-offs
- Lead the project management of specific engineering projects including representing Fleetway at client meetings, preparation of proposals, etc.
Requirements:
- Bachelor of Engineering Degree or equivalent
- Minimum of five (5) to eight (8) years proven hands-on experience in ship design and marine engineering
- P.Eng certification is an asset
- Experience in managing engineering projects along with possessing a CAP-M or PMP certification would be assets for this role
- Experience in Naval warship design would be considered an asset
