DND Repair and Overhaul

Fleetway has, since August 2004, been responsible for the management of the Department of National Defence (DND) Miscellaneous (RMR) Equipment Repair and Overhaul contract for the Canadian Forces.

Fleetway’s work scope includes the receipt of repairable items from DND, the identification of qualified vendors (OEM dealers for the repair), the sourcing of repairs on a competitive basis, the awarding of contracts to selected vendors / repair facilities, freight coordination, and the verification of the required repairs and the return of material to DND. The contract also calls for the provision of Warehousing and Mobile Repair Party support as well as technical investigations and studies.

DND Supply Arrangement

Fleetway has been involved in the DND Supply Arrangement since its inception. This multi-function contract is used by DND to provide technical support services to the Life Cycle Material Management sections within the engineering organizations of the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Fleetway is qualified to provide services in every category including project managers, engineers, technologists, technical data and ILS specialists and administrative support personnel.

Currently, Fleetway provides supply arrangement services for gas turbines, auxiliary systems, replenishment at sea equipment, refrigeration and HVAC, lube oil, fuel oil (cargo and ship service) and JP5 aircraft fuelling systems, deck machinery and associated equipment, steam propulsion and auxiliary systems.

3-D Modelling & Graphics Support

Fleetway is particularly skilled at 3D modelling in support of complex defence equipment or unique graphic requirements. Fleetway has developed 3D models of most major compartments (operations room, fire control spaces, accommodation blocks, main machinery control room, etc). Other projects have included the complete topside 3D model of the frigates and numerous models of the mast layout, structural assessment, and finite element analysis.

Fleetway has also developed the graphical models of over one hundred land-mines and improvised explosive devices from lift-off data from actual devices. The models are transformed and ported to handheld devices in the field for use by Canadian Army specialists to identify and disarm the explosives.

Victoria Class Submarine Trainer Support

Fleetway, in partnership with several key Canadian companies, was responsible for dismantling and moving the trainers from the United Kingdom to the new submarine trainer facility in Halifax and then supporting these trainers, including maintenance, updates, and technical and training support data. One trainer, as an example, is over 10 meters (35 ft) in length and two stories in height with hundreds of components.

Once the trainers were operational, Fleetway remained responsible for the management of spares, warehousing of components and the ongoing participation and support to the Navy for submarine trainer and training support.
